6 weeks – 15 months
Our infant classrooms and experiences are designed with the goal of helping infants build loving relationships with responsive caregivers.
Infants benefit from a nurturing environment where they feel secure and loved. Our teachers are experienced, observant, and skillful at meeting our infant’s needs. Above all, they know our infants and their families! Infants and their families take comfort in and build real connections with consistent caregivers.
We prioritize building partnerships with families. We recognize the importance of consistency in a child’s life, and we will keep your child on your home feeding and sleep schedule until your child transitions to the Toddler program.
Constant communication allows us to best meet your baby’s changing needs. We communicate with families daily through conversations at school and through daily reports and learning portfolios on Lillio, our parent communication platform.
Our teachers provide loving responsiveness to the cues and needs of your child while feeding, changing, comforting, and playing. We stick to your home feeding and sleep schedules and share updates on feedings, diaper changes, and sleep via daily reports in our parent communication app.
We encourage our babies to explore through movement, such as reaching, squeezing, releasing, crawling, and rolling. We stretch our bodies and practice balance with baby yoga. Our teachers observe each child’s process of development and respond with activities to meet their rapidly changing needs.
Infants engage in process art and explore sensory tubs, soft surfaces, and various textures throughout the day. Our infants love to make music and dance! Our teachers frequently take infants on walks for fresh air, natural sights, and new sounds.
Our teachers guide infants in building social and emotional skills through activities such as mirror play, puppet play, telephone play, and playful interaction with other infant friends.
Our teachers support language acquisition by narrating what is happening in the child’s environment and by naming people and objects with physical gestures and demonstrations. Our teachers consistently and thoughtfully respond to the infant’s verbal and nonverbal cues. We sing songs, tell stories, and teach infant sign language, which research has shown increases the rate of verbal development and strengthens the child and caregiver bonds. In infancy, our sign language focus is on functional words, such as milk, more, and all done.
