Step into a world of color, curiosity, and creativity! This special exhibition shines a light on the process—the squish of paint between tiny fingers, the textured stamp of a sponge, and the thoughtful choices behind every brushstroke. Let your child lead you, hand in hand, to her classroom’s art display—eager to share stories of teamwork, imagination, and the joy of creating something beautiful together.
Each fall, imaginations take flight as butterflies flutter, superheroes strike bold poses, and astronauts march beneath a canopy of colorful leaves. Our annual Costume Parade is a joyful celebration where creativity knows no bounds! Families gather with coffee in hand and smiles at the ready, awaiting the moment their children appear—waving proudly, beaming brightly, and fully immersed in the magic of make-believe.

Each classroom selects a special recipe to share, and the children take the lead—measuring, pouring, stirring, mashing, chopping, and preparing with care and pride. From setting the tables to sampling their creations, our young chefs bring the feast to life. As the scent of roasted turkey and mashed potatoes fills the halls, so does the sound of joyful chatter and community. This is a tradition that has captured our hearts and nestled into our memories over the many years of growing with AMT.

Last summer’s yield? Vine ripened tomatoes, green peppers, strawberries, zucchini, pumpkins, and mammoth sunflowers! Our little gardeners build a sense of responsibility for taking care of living things as they plant the seeds, water, weed, and harvest our garden. Each day, the garden inspires rich conversation and opportunities for learning as we notice, for instance, the busy beads pollinating and the little peppers hiding under low hanging leaves. We taste our crunchy vegetables, and our mammoth sunflowers become paint brushes and inspire science experiments for weeks to come!

Some of the most memorable moments in our classrooms happen when parents step inside—not just as visitors, but as heroes, helpers, and storytellers. Dressed in uniforms and carrying tools of their trade, they transform into veterinarians, firefighters, pilots, doctors, and dentists right before our eyes. With every story read, question answered, or demonstration shared, they spark curiosity and connect real-world experiences to our children’s growing minds. When parents share their world, our children’s learning becomes deeper, richer, and full of wonder.
A new tradition emerged this year to kick off National Week of the Young Reader! Our families donated well-loved but outgrown books, and our children “shopped” the AMT book swap for “new titles” to bring home! Our book swap was bursting with engaging and beautiful books, and our event provided an opportunity to discover new authors, connect with book lovers, and share the joy of reading with others!
Each year, we invite community helpers to school. With their big red truck and full gear, they’ll show the children what they wear and use to keep people safe. Seeing firefighters up close—helmets, masks, and all—helps young children feel more familiar and comfortable with these everyday heroes, so they’re less likely to feel scared in an emergency. Through hands-on demonstrations and age-appropriate conversations, our firefighters will teach important fire safety tips in a fun, memorable way. It’s a powerful mix of learning, awe, and connection with the helpers in our community.
Our beloved intergenerational program connects kindergarten children to the seniors in our community. At A Mother’s Touch, we believe that we can learn from one another at all stages of life, sharing time, acceptance, patience, and compassion. Our intergenerational program helps seniors and young children build meaningful relationships in a supervised setting. Children and seniors engage in activities such as storytelling, art, music, gardening, and cooking. Our program is DCFS licensed for children ages 3-5.
If moms were flowers, I’d pick you! This year, our children created beautiful bouquets for moms—but the real beauty was in the process. Little hands explored tall stems, soft petals, feathery leaves, and fluffy blooms, carefully selecting just the right flowers to express their love. There was joy in every step—from choosing the perfect ribbon to the proud (and sometimes wobbly) attempts at tying bows. A sweet celebration of mothers, made all the more meaningful by the tiny hands and big hearts behind it.
